I got a white low coolant message on my way home from work today. Any ideas ?
Does anyone know what coolant a S600 takes. I have no idea and can't seem to find it.

You’re low on white coolant.

A little strip of masking tape will solve your pesky light problem.

When in doubt, get the “ALL MAKES ALL MODELS” bottle of Prestone

Oil and coolant leaks make me very uncomfortable.
Best of luck. Mine is going back tomorrow to get the new shift lock ground down because the car says “put car in park” after doing so and opening the door. Also, my service advisor is suppose to have answers as to my lack of steering return.

Oh no! If you’re lucky, reservoir or hose. If you’re unlucky, radiator. If the universe has a vendetta against you, hard line seals on the turbos. Don’t expect to get out of this one cheaply. Sorry.
Blue!

that reminds me.... i need to add coolant too. I think the last few bubbles have finally passed from taking the radiator off to replace that fan.

are there different color messages with different meanings? and are you serious on all that? I wouldn’t be surprised if that is really true.
yep its still there
i got rid of that light switch over the weekend. I still need a fan control module or some BS like that for about $100.

How not cheap are we talking? ABC not cheap or normal car not cheap.

I should add that nothing is leaking from the car.
![]() 08/16/2016 at 23:06 |

Totally serious. And yes, white is generally petty harmless, yellow is more serious, and red means STOP NOW!
Hopefully that thing doesn’t cause you too many more headaches...
![]() 08/16/2016 at 23:08 |

Not leaking that you can see. There are tons of nooks and crannies for fluid to pool up in.
Reservoir, couple hundred?
Radiator, probably close to two grand
Turbo seals, requires engine removal...

How common is the turbo seals ? If it comes to an engine removal I'm not sure if it's worth keeping around. How much does that run anyways
![]() 08/17/2016 at 00:37 |

Also, it only stays on for about after 30 seconds after starting. The car is unaffected driving wise
![]() 08/17/2016 at 01:14 |

I'm terrified that it *might* be w turbo main seal, which would result in a engine out service which would possibly result in the sale of the car.

30+ hours and a few hundred in parts? It’s been a long while since I’ve seen/done it.
They’re quite common in hot climates, cali and texas, etc. Where you are and I am? Not so much.
Does the message come back when you shut the car off to remind you? Have you actually checked the level? Maybe it’s just barely low or its a sensor issue. They’re so complex it’s hard to speculate without looking at it.
![]() 08/17/2016 at 01:52 |

It doesn't come back on and I haven't checked the level yet. It didn't list any additional malfunctions at shutdown. Keep in mind, I'm not clearing the warning. It just disappears.
![]() 08/17/2016 at 02:02 |

Sounds like you need to check the level and check for faults. You might get off easy.

hopefully that's it...thank you man.

i have a bit of a list made out. I fix something and I start liking the car again and then I have to fix something else. I still can’t decide how long i’m going to throw parts at it or if i’ll keep it long term. (its been 9 months so far)

I’d heard that the front subframe has to come out to get to the turbos, but not the whole engine.
The idea of removing an engine in anything is...unsavory...

Well, great. I have to ditch mine now because it spent the first 110,000 miles of it’s life in Dallas...

Is that all?! It feels like you’ve had it forever! I’ve had cars like that before, best example was my range rover, took me over two years to get sick of it...
![]() 08/17/2016 at 09:43 |

Seriously though it doesn’t affect every car, just have your mechanic look at the bottoms of the turbos every time it’s in the shop for anything. If some crustiness starts building up...

one of the biggest problems is that there really isn’t much that would satisfy my desires.
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/…
and we’ve all heard how those are.not to mention thats well above what I could spend on a car. my wife hated the WRX so another one of those isn;t happening. I want a manual wagon, that can corner and accelerate. Neither of which the Allroad does well at the moment.

E46 325ix? A friend of mine has two and loves them. One has a dirty title and very high miles but they’ve been good to him for the past couple years. Pretty easy to work on, relatively simple, very known entity.

Top off the coolant and put it on craigslist emphasizing the new ABC pump post-haste?

Exactly!

i still think those would be a little slow. the interwebs say 189 hp?
![]() 08/17/2016 at 10:22 |

Yeah a little bit, but I’m sure there are some mods to help with that.

I had to pull an engine on my boat once. Granted, it was a 2 HP outboard l, but still.

BWAHHAHAHAHA! $400 hose ! I got away relatively scot free ! *dances around*
